Every year Earthdance joins like-minded people across the planet at over 300 Earthdance events in a joyous celebration of non-stop music, dance and peace. Earthdance strives to raise awareness of issues affecting society today while raising money for local charities too. At 1am on Sunday morning all Earthdance events link via the “Prayer for Peace” meditation, a song that is played at all events at exactly the same time, connecting all participants at every Earthdance.
Over the centuries, Scientists and mystics have honored water’s sacred and restorative properties. It is increasingly evident that this precious resource is now critically endangered. To raise awareness about the importance of water, we have chosen "The Sacredness of Water" as our international Earthdance theme for 2007. Earthdance 2007 returns with multiple stages blasting Psy-Trance, Electronica, Breaks, Electro-Rock, Dub, Minimal, Tech-House, Techno, Rock, Folk, Indie, Balkan and other worldly beats.
VENUE Nekkies Resort. Gates open on Friday between 14:00 – 00:00 to prepaid ticket holders only. Gates open on Saturday from 10am till Sunday afternoon.
DIRECTIONS From Cape Town take the N1 past Paarl. Go through the Hugenot Tunnel (there is a toll). 14km after tunnel turn right towards Rawsonville. After 6 km turn right into Rawsonville. At stop street turn right towards Worcester. Follow the road for 12km. Look for signs.
FESTIVAL FACILITIES Shaded dance-floor, chill zones, camping, swimming, food stalls, bars, medical facilities, strong and friendly security, craft & clothing market, clean toilets and showers.
Useful things to pack: Camping stuff (like a tent etc!!), sun-block, torch & spare batteries, insect repellent, shade covering, gas cookers (no fires allowed/needed), sun-hat, swimming costume, warm clothing for the evening. Silly outfits for general amusement.
STRICTLY NO Under 18's (ID on request), Fires, Glass bottles (this will be enforced), domestic animals, independent sound systems, illegal substances or cameras on the dancefloor. The Barefoot Boogie crew are hosting an alcohol free, smoke free and drug free space at this years event. Providing a new uplifting alternative experience.
This will include:
• A Chill space with; dj's and live music, kaleidoscopic projection and other visual de-lights, Refreshments and info display area.
• Facilitated workshops including; Ecstatic Dance, Gong meditation, Didge Vibration, Yoga and Sound Journey.
• Heart Space Healing area with ; Reiki, Deep Tissue massage, Thai massage, Electric • massage Chair, Card readings and Shamanism
• Kids Area with; Jumping Castle, Squeaks the clown, Face Painting, Peace Barbie, Storytelling and other activities.
