Joburg Live

Webmaster 2007:

The greatest dance festival in the world will take place on:
15 & 16 SEPTEMBER 2007

Starts at 10am on Saturday 15th Sept

to see news and pictures of this year's event!

Also the DVD of this year's Earthdance is now available!

There are over 340 venues participating and this year will be the 10th year in South Africa.

EARTHDANCE JOHANNESBURG will celebrate the event at
NALEDI just north of Fourways on the banks of the Hennops River see : Info on Naledi (article from Rennaisance Magazine) click here for Map and Directions to Naledi. Secure parking is available at R5 per vehicle. This is a weekend full of festivities, bands and DJs to keep you dancing right through the day and night, drum circle, dance, ceremonies, performers, kids facilitated entertainment and camping (beautiful campsite on the Hennops River).

This year the global theme is "Honouring The Waters" and Johannesburg will be focussing on giving back to the earth and among stunning exhibition stands there will also be an Alternative Energy expo creating awareness of re-usable & recyclable energy sources, solar power, bio-diesel, etc.

At 1am SA time on Sunday morning all venues around the world connect and all DJs play "A Prayer for Peace". A most awesome unifying moment! and this year we include a gathering of Firedancers.

Profits this year will be going to Hospice in the West and Starfish.

You can't miss it because it's the event of the year, so diarise it and tell all your friends about it.

Together we WILL make a difference!

Hands-on help - there is so much to be done in terms of pre-event publicity and hands to help with setup and strike on the weekend, so if you think you may have some extra time, please get in touch with us.

Sponsors - we need to raise money to cover expenses and make this happens so any sponsorship would be appreciated.  We could in turn provide publicity on the global and local websites and promotion at the event. Exhibitors - if you know anyone involved in Alternative Energy sources, get them to contact us.

Firedancers - the more the better and the aim is to have as many firedancers dancing at the same time as possible. Firedancers can register in advance so we can brief you and also get some idea of who will be there. Please e-mail us on: g@dreams-of-fire.co.za

Shakti
Initially one of the organizers and fundraisers for Earthdance Gauteng, DJ Shakti knows what its all about and is a strong supporter of the cause. Shakti has been in the dance scene for almost ten years now during which she has been involved in major dance events including the Earthdance events, Woodstock and various outdoor events under the name of Shakti Productions. She has also been one of the main contributors of BPM Magazine since its inception 5 years ago and continues to be involved in the industry.

DJ Shakti is well known amongst the scene as an excellent DJ both in the Chill zones and on the main dancefloor playing a wide selection of music ranging from ambient chill to eclectic, funky and deep beats, trance psy trance and even tribal and tech house. Her style is full on rhythm and her sets are electric.

Seb
Séb has been mixing music since 1993 using tape decks then moved to vinyl in 1997. His first major party was Dreamscape, a new-years party that people will never forget. This gig opened the door to his longest residency at 96 degrees. At that stage Séb was playing trance while every ‘other’ dj was playing house, this made dj life challenging but existing.

His frequent visits to Belgium made it possible for him to give back to the South African dance scene with for-front music selection. These tracks were heard from the tweeters of Fly Bar, the mids of Area 52 and the bass bins of ESP.

After spending a year in Europe and having the chance to visit some of the finest clubs and lessoning to the best djs, techno was my Séb’s new style…Back in JHB his has been present at all major techno movements GASS and now Teknotribe.

Séb is a mood dj and his style of techno will vary from the time slot he is playing on the night.

Simon Kaind
A guy with a serious love for the progressive genre started off his career studying Sound Engineering at Inhouse Audio Training in 2000. Specialising in post production gave him a firm backround in the art of recording, mastering and mixing.

Vern
Been into the trance scene for the past 10 yrs, playing mostly parties hosted by Redeye Productions and enjoying how the trance scene has grown.

The underground is where my passion for progressive trance started and where I fell for the deep baselines that always stir that certain something in my soul.

It's definitely the most fun I can have with my clothes on!

Emma

I see everyday the pain an untamed ego brings.
The hurt …and even destruction.
The desire for control eradicates the means to peace.
We all know peace begins within ourselves.
It’s the lotus flower of our heart –pink and green.
We all know too the power of the mind -the strength of intent.
So when the two combine synchronistically with the intent of Peace and thousands of people illuminate the world, with dance, music, love and harmony,
I feel the Earth shift!

And that’s what Earthdance means to me!
